Little Oonah needs your help

Last February 5, 2009, OONAH MARIE GILERA, a 6 years old bubbly-smart kid and daughter of a member from First Buhangin Baptist Church was hospitalized and was diagnosed with Dengue Fever- a common viral infection in tropical countries like the Philippines. The dissemination of the disease was so sudden which opted her attending physician to place her at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the Davao Doctor’s Hospital since her heart and lungs was also found to contain fluid in the course of the initial treatment. During her hospital stay, Oonah’s platelet drop to its lowest level and bleeding symptom started to appear and thus, subjecting her for platelet transfusion. Many times her life has been in critical stages, but God showed His miraculous work for after several days at the PICU, through prayers, by faith and with God’s grace, she was able to recover from the dengue infection although her vitals remain under monitoring because it fluctuates from time to time. The secondary complication she obtained with her vital organs including the liver, the lungs, and just recently her kidney and a fungal eye infection is still being managed by several doctors in their respective field of specialty. The doctors have been trying to salvage her infected lungs and as much as to prevent the spread of infection to adjacent organs especially the heart. At present, Oonah is under dialysis (due to elevated creatinine level) and the family is in search of fungal medication for her eye infection, which at this point of time is not available here in the Philippines.

Oonah's two weeks' stay in the Intensive Care Unit has also become an ongoing two weeks of calling and crying out to the Lord for help, and like what He said in
Mark 11: 24 “…Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours..” God has been true to His promise by faithfully meeting Oonah and her family’s needs.

The members of First Buhangin Baptist Church here in Davao believed that THERE IS POWER IN UNITED PRAYER. If you happen to read this, we would like to ask your SUPPORT IN PRAYER for the fast recovery of Oonah. Also, the cost of Oonah’s hospital stay has gone beyond the limit of the health insurance and the family’s personal savings. For those who desire to share financial help for Oonah, we would gladly appreciate any amount that you can give.

Just send it to:
